Vision & Mission

Vision

thy kindom come

River of Joy’s vision statement is an ancient one, thy kingdom come.  Our prayer is that this kingdom would come through us and to us as we engage the world creatively in following Jesus together.

As a community we strive to make room for Christ to heal our brokenness and to mend the shattered relationships and the disconnectedness that is not a part of God’s kingdom dream for the world.  River of Joy exists to connect people to God’s beautiful kingdom vision that is ushered in by Christ and seen through the eyes of children.

Mission

thy will be done

If we seek this kingdom of God to come to us and through us in the world, we know that our actions need to align with the trajectory of this Christ formed kingdom.  We seek to do the things that Jesus would have us do.  We are far from perfect, but nonetheless we respond to his call for us to act.

As a community, River of Joy takes this seriously and strives to respond to the needs of our neighbors, both locally and globally, in a manner that would be pleasing to Christ.  We act creatively in responding to Christ’s call to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, and give water to the thirsty.

Our actions are creative, they may look like a concert in a park, a group of people swinging hammers to help a neighborfixing bikes to give away to children in need, or preparing care packages for the homeless.  As followers of Jesus we are called to be responsive and gifted to be creative as we engage the world in the journey of following him.
